Not in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, but in Middlesex County, New Jersey, lies a small stretch of land known as America’s “Little India.”
This stretch of Oak Tree Road is home to one of the largest concentrations of South Asian shops, restaurants, and businesses in the nation.
Oak Tree Road runs about one and a half miles through the towns of Iselin and Edison, New Jersey. Indian jewelers, grocers, restaurants, clothing shops, and boutiques fill the entire length of the road, earning it the nationally recognized title of “Little India.”
The area boasts more than 140 Indian restaurants and hosts the annual India Day Parade, which takes place every August.
The town is about a six-hour drive from Boston or accessible via the Northeast Regional train.
