Tonight at 8:30 PM the Celtics and Miami Heat will tip-off at TD Garden. But the basketball teams aren’t the only ones with winning stakes at hand. Boston beloved, Kanes Donuts, and Miami’s Mojo Donuts have a playoff bracket of their own.
The city with the losing team will have to ship a dozen donuts to the winning team-to literally taste the victory. If the Celtics win, Mojo Donuts must send a dozen of their best seller donuts to the Kane’s Donuts shop in Boston, MA, and Kane’s must send a dozen of their famous homemade donuts if the Heat are victorious.
This third round of playoffs is especially nail-biting as the winner of this series makes it to the NBA finals in hopes to take home the championship! ESPN analytics currently predicts a 97% chance of winning in favor of the Boston Celtics compared to just 3% for Miami.
Established in 1955, Kane’s Donuts has been serving up some of Boston’s best donuts for nearly 70 years. Their multiple award-winning donuts, most famously the Kane’s Honey Dip winning “top 10 in America” show that they are a feisty competitor with sweet endings. The two donut shops will exchange friendly trash-talk via social media on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter leading up to and following Wednesday night’s game.
The losing team’s respective shop will also have to take a photo with the opposing team’s jerseys next week while baking their
own donuts. Looking forward to catching Miami rock a Celtics jersey!
