The Harvard-Yale Game, so iconic it’s just referred to as “the Game,” is the second-oldest college football rivalry in the United States. The historic game was first played in 1875 in New Haven Connecticut, two years after the Yale-Princeton rivalry commenced.
Harvard won the first game, played as a mix of rugby and soccer, 4-0. Today, Yale leads the historic rivalry 70-61-8. The historic game is a fall tradition, always occurring the Saturday before Thanksgiving in New England. Alumni, students, football enthusiasts, and local New Englanders as well as travelers far and wide gather annually for the festive rivalry.
The Harvard Yale Games rotate between Yale Bowl in New Haven, Connecticut and Harvard Stadium in Allston. Luckily, this year’s game takes place in Boston at Harvard. Unfortunately, if you don’t already have tickets, the stadium is completely sold out for the 2024 season game. There may be resale tickets as the game approaches, with average costs of $120+. Whether you are going to the game, plan on attending, or want to catch the action at home, here’s what you need to know:
