Operations are slowly resuming after the intense global computer outage that caused global tech issues on Friday, July 19 that began around 1 AM EST. The global outage impacted Microsoft users whose software depends on cybersecurity firm, CrowdStrike.
Implications at Logan Airport
The technology was integral to certain operations at Logan Airport. Officials advise those traveling to check their flight status as dozens of flights have been cancelled as airlines are working to safely restore operations.
Boston area hospitals cancel non-urgent procedures
Dozens of hospitals such as MGH and Brigham and Women also suffered from the tech outage. Mass General Brigham canceled all non-urgent appointments but all Boston area hospitals continue to remain open for any emergency needs. Tufts and Beth Israel kept scheduled appointments, but you can always verify with your service provider that nothing’s been canceled. 911 service was impacted in parts of New England but has since been restored.
