People line the block for Covet’s wildly popular monthly $5 Bin Sale. The Boston-based secondhand and vintage boutique has four locations—Beacon Hill, the South End, South Boston, and Back Bay—with a Harvard Square shop expected to open soon.
Inside, shoppers can browse an ever-changing selection of designer, contemporary, independent, and vintage pieces. Think labels such as Burberry and Balenciaga, alongside brands like Sleeper and COS, plus one-of-a-kind vintage finds. Prices typically vary depending on the season, style, and condition of each piece, but the monthly bin sale is where the real deals appear.
On the last Wednesday of every month, Covet fills bins with expired and unclaimed consignment inventory, with every item in the bins priced at just $5. The sale begins when stores open and continues until everything is gone. Associates restock the bins throughout the day, so latecomers still have a chance to score a luxe sweater, statement accessory, or unexpected designer find. Proceeds from the sale support a charitable cause.
