The Esplanade is in the midst of a major transformation. The former Lee Pool Complex will soon become Charlesbank on the Esplanade.
Charlesbank is the Esplanade Association’s transformative project to revamp the neglected space overlooking the Charles River and Museum of Science.
The project will bring so many enhancements to the area.
About Charlesbank
Charlesbank Pavilion, or Charlesbank for short, introduces a new home base to the Esplanade this year. The center of the project is a 2-story pavilion with space for civic, educational, artistic, and cultural activities, designed for year-round engagement. The space will also include restrooms.
In addition, Charlesbank will have an indoor/outdoor cafe, plus basketball and tennis courts.
There will be sustainable stormwater infrastructure, green pathways, a rain garden, and dozens of new trees planted. Charlesbank Pavilion is expected to debut in 2026. Visit the Esplanade Association for the latest updates.
