Six BSO musicians will bring an afternoon of chamber music to La CASA, the South End’s new Latino arts and culture center, on October 25.
On Sunday, October 25, Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción (IBA) will welcome six BSO musicians to La CASA: The Center for Arts, Self-Determination and Activism for a free afternoon concert. Running from 3–4 p.m., the performance will take place in Jean and Tom Yawkey Hall, a performance and community gathering space overlooking O’Day Playground.
The concert opens the BSO’s 2026–27 Community Chamber Concert season, bringing the musicians out of Symphony Hall and into the South End.
What’s on the program?
The afternoon will feature selections from Dvořák’s Cypresses, Libby Larsen’s Sorrow Song & Jubilee, and Brahms’s String Sextet No. 2 in G, Op. 36. Violinists Elita Kang and Lucia Lin, violists Rebecca Gitter and Danny Kim, and cellists Jonah Ellsworth and Owen Young will perform.
Established in 1998, the BSO’s free Community Chamber Concert series brings chamber music to community spaces throughout Greater Boston, giving audiences opportunities to hear BSO musicians beyond their usual concert-hall setting.
A new setting for a growing arts partnership
The performance builds on a partnership between IBA and the BSO that began in 2025, when IBA brought the Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico to Symphony Hall for its Massachusetts debut.
It also adds to the programming at the recently opened La CASA, which IBA describes as New England’s largest Latino arts and culture center. The venue creates space for performances, exhibitions and community gatherings while expanding opportunities for Boston’s Latino communities to connect with leading cultural institutions.
