Following some of the coldest recorded temperatures of this winter season, Boston temperatures are not expected to climb anytime soon. The weekend’s -25 degree wind chills will barely warm up, leaving us with bitterly cold temperatures to kick off the month of February in Boston.
6 more weeks of winter
In Pennsylvania, CMG (Chief Meteorologist Groundhog), Punxsutawney Phil, predicts 6 more weeks of winter after spotting his shadow on Monday, February 2.
And not only do we likely have several more weeks of winter to go, but this week continues to freeze temps among the coldest of the season in Boston. The predicted optimistic high of the week is 34°, while the temperatures realistically will average in the teens most of the week due to wind chills, and Boston even has predicted lows of -1° this week, according to AccuWeather.
Boston will be colder than Antarctica this week

Don’t worry, you don’t need to migrate to Florida just yet. Boston will be colder than Esperanza Base, Antarctica, whose temperatures will range from 30° to a balmy 38° Farenheit this week, making it significantly warmer than Boston overall. Since Espranza Base sits at the very tip of Northern Antarctica, temperatures average much higher than central and southern Antarctica where the temperature is currently a mindboggling -69° Fahrenheit. It is also currently summer in Antarctica.
In Esperanza Base, where it is warmer than Boston, the temperatures are slightly higher than average, where the temperatures this time of year are closer to 10-14° Fahrenheit. This week, it seems Boston and Antarctica are trading places and the city will be unusually cold and windy again.
