Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day occurs nationwide on Tuesday, April 8, 2025! All Ben & Jerry’s worldwide offer a free scoop of your preferred ice cream flavor on a sugar cone.
What is Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s?
Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day dates back to 1979, a tradition that began in Burlington, Vermont at an old gas station near the Ben & Jerry’s HQ. Free Cone Day became an official part of the Ben & Jerry’s calendar as a way to thank their ice cream enthusiasts after one year in business!
5 years later in 1984, Saratoga Springs, New York became the first town outside Vermont to host a Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day! By 2015, over 1,000,000 free scoops of ice cream were administered worldwide by the Ben & Jerry’s team on Free Cone Day alone, and they’ve worked to match or top that number every year with a lofty goal to outserve last year!

Fans are encouraged to return to the line and try as many flavors as possible on free cone day! It’s a win-win—more ice cream for you and helping Ben & Jerry’s shatter it’s record 1 million free cones!
