Beacon Hill, Boston’s already darling downtown neighborhood, becomes even more quaint and magical this Thursday! The favorite night of the year transforms this corner of Boston into something out of a holiday storybook! The neighborhood dresses up thanks to the help of volunteers and sponsors, donning over 2,000 red bows and 2,000 fresh wreaths.
A long-standing neighborhood tradition, Charles Street closes to vehicular traffic between Cambridge and Beacon Streets, providing ample space to enjoy holiday decor and live performances along the route. Strollers are encouraged to check out the shops and restaurants along Charles Street for festive decor, treats, and surprises in-store!
The main event kicks off at 7 PM! The annual Beacon Hill tree lighting at Charles and Mount Vernon Streets illuminates the entire neighborhood.
In fact, December 4 is a night of lights!
At 7:55 PM on Boston Common, Santa will flip the switch to illuminate Boston’s official tree—hailing all the way from Nova Scotia. Shortly after, the festivities continue at Commonwealth Avenue Mall. The Comm Ave Mall lights turn on around 8:15 PM to kick off the holiday season!
If you prefer to absorb all of the holiday cheer on the hill, Beacon Hill’s Holiday Stroll runs from 6-9 PM on the night of Thursday, December 4. Find the celebrations along all five blocks of Charles Street from Beacon to Cambridge!
