Initially built in 1960 on North Beach Street, Beachside has been reimagined into a stunning family-friendly boutique accommodation that celebrates Nantucket’s artistic heritage. Combining retro charm with modern luxury, this redesigned property by Blue Flag Capital and Parts and Labor Design offers guests a chance to experience the timeless allure of an “endless summer.”
Beachside Nantucket’s new vision, rooted in nostalgia
Beachside incorporates terracottas, gentle creams, dark greens, and natural woods inspired by childhood memories and films like 1993’s major hit, The Sandlot.
We wanted to evoke that comforting feeling of freedom that summer offered us as children,” Guidi explains.
With its thoughtful redesign and emphasis on creating memorable experiences, Beachside offers more than just accommodations—it provides a soulful retreat where nature meets design on island. Whether you’re lounging poolside or exploring Nantucket’s rich cultural heritage, this boutique hotel invites you to savor every moment of your stay.
A love letter to Nantucket’s creative past
The Beachside Hotel pays homage to the vibrant arts and crafts era of the 1960s and ’70s, when Nantucket was a haven for creators and dreamers. The design team preserved the original façade, clad in classic white cedar shingles, while transforming the interiors into a celebration of midcentury American craft. From terracotta floors to warm-hued seating and natural wood accents, the hotel evokes nostalgia with a refreshing coastal twist.
Inside the lobby, find seafoam green-tiles surrounded by plush linen stools and lounge seating that radiates outward from a natural wood fireplace—a spot perfect for cozying up on breezy summer nights! The walls showcase works by Rhode Island-based artist Sean Spellman, along with mosaics, watercolors, and paintings by Maine-based artist, Gayle Fitzpatrick.
Discovering a home away from home
The guest rooms of Beachside feel like elevated beach homes. Beds are adorned with patchwork quilts and plush linen headboards, while walls feature vintage artwork such as tapestries, oil pastels, and watercolors from artists like Carol Young and Ron Abedra. Each room combines cozy textures with thoughtful design elements that reflect Nantucket’s creative spirit.
The centerpiece of the property is its new pool courtyard, featuring a mahogany deck surrounded by ample loungers. This inviting outdoor area encourages guests to relax and connect while enjoying the sun-drenched ambiance. Beyond the pool, families can explore grassy lawns dotted with sunset-colored seating or gather around communal fire pits for movie nights under a starry sky.
The Beachside Hotel’s programming caters to guests of all ages with activities like morning yoga, communal dinners, and game nights.
The hotel is “designed around the idea of an endless summer,” notes Blue Flag Capital co-founder Brad Guidi.
From its proximity to Jetties Beach to its inviting atmosphere, The Beachside is perfect for families seeking an unplugged escape or solo travelers looking for tranquility.
