Altaer Sauna offers a moment to connect with nature, alternating between a $44,000 sauna and the crisp Rhode Island saltwater. The mobile sauna, valued at $44,000 a piece—significantly higher than the average sauna price tag of $3,000—features a Kuuma Stove from a fourth-generation Finnish family in Minnesota.
The heating mechanism from Lamppa Manufacturing, named “Minnesota Family-Owned Business of the Year” by the U.S. Small Business Administration preserves traditional Finish techniques. Altaer Sauna also offers alternative sauna builds at $30,000 and $16,500.
The Altaer Sauna uses Finnish sauna design to offer sustainable heat mechanisms. The sauna itself offers many amenities such as the Kuuma Stove, Cedar walls, birch and eucalyptus whisk, and more.
And while the sauna can be purchased for $44,000, Altaer Sauna offers 1-hour bookings starting from only $40 for a shared sauna experience or $143 for a 1-hour private sauna session. The spa like sauna experience is set on the sands of South Shore Beach in Little Compton Rhode Island, 90 minutes south of Boston.
A sauna reservation includes dried herbs, essential oils, and a peaceful front-row view to the ocean. Pop out on the sand to cool off as needed:
“The concept is to sandwich time in the sauna with time in nature. After a sweat we can take a break in the cooling air, ocean, lake, pond, cold plunge, and then back,” notes Altaer Sauna who added a second location in New Bedford Massachusetts at Allen Haskell Garden, about 1-hour from Boston.
