For Alex Marcin, the chance to welcome travelers to Boston carries a family connection that stretches back generations.
The Chelmsford resident is one of eight finalists in the Voice of Logan contest. Public voting ends October 28, and the winner is expected to be announced in November.
A family story rooted in East Boston
In his contestant statement, Marcin describes an Italian immigrant family that raised three generations on Marion Street in East Boston.
His childhood memories include Santarpio’s and the Red Sox, alongside lessons in hard work, grit, and kindness.
Those details form the foundation of his pitch. Rather than presenting his voice as his alone, Marcin frames the opportunity as a way to represent the family and community that shaped him.
“I am a proud Bostonian,” he writes, explaining that he would love to have his family’s voice welcome travelers from around the world.
