The Shell Bar is the latest concept from the Saltie Girl team. The new restaurant is slated to open in spring 2027, three years following the closing of its former occupant, B&G Oysters.
Saltie Girl owner, Kathy Sidell, shared that this new space reminds her of the original Saltie Girl space in Back Bay that housed only a few seats, before the restaurant eventually expanded into the former The Met space next door, opening up the restaurant significantly. “There’s a big difference in what you can do in a small space and a large one,” Sidell shared with Boston Magazine. Sidell’s incredibly excited to bring that boutique seafood experience to such an iconic location in South End.
The Shell Bar will have a romantic and intimate feel, with just 38 interior seats and 22 seats for dining al fresco. Sidell also shared she wants dining at Shell Bar to feel like living on a “Hinckley picnic boat.”
The star of the menu will be The Shell Bar’s extra-crispy fish and chips. But the restaurant will also offer a raw bar, stone crabs, and so much more for lunch, brunch and dinner.
The Shell Bar is slated to open in spring 2027 at 550 Tremont Street in Boston’s South End.
