The largest Portuguese festival in the world isn’t across the pond, it’s down MA-24 South.
The 109th annual Feast of the Blessed Sacrament returns to New Bedford from July 31 to August 3, 2025. The festival spans four days of celebration filled with authentic Portuguese food, live music, parades, carnival rides, and family-friendly fun—all free to attend.
Car-free weekend adventure to ‘Portugal’

Tens of thousands of visitors travel in for the festival, and this year’s event brings a noteworthy travel option for Bostonians!
Keolis Mass Adventures is offering special round-trip Commuter Rail service from Boston, Braintree, and Middleborough to New Bedford. At the New Bedford MBTA station, shuttles will transport you straight to the festival grounds! No need to worry about parking or traffic to attend the festival. The shuttle will also drop commuters off at the train station for a seamless ride back to Boston.
The special Commuter Rail service is on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3 only. The festival runs Thursday, July 31 through Sunday.
