Winteractive is Boston’s latest public art exhibit! The curious art displays provide a free outdoor museum experience.
Explore everything from the massive floating Mr.Pink peeking out of Downtown Crossing near Brattle Bookstore to a mock satelite incident.
The fanciful winter art experience is actually in collaboration with Canada! Similar to the Québec winter caarnival that popped up in Seaport, Winteractive is a collaboration between Downtown Boston BID in partnership with three curatorial partners from Canada’s Québec province: EXMURO Arts Publics of Québec City; LeMonde Studio of Montréal; and Quartier des Spectacles International (QDSI) of Montréal!
WINTERACTIVE has proven to be another amazing draw to Downtown Boston, with an awe-inspiring first year that gave people a unique and compelling reason to visit the neighborhood throughout the winter,” says Downtown Boston Alliance President Michael Nichols. “Based on the reaction from visitors, and from those who shared photos and discussed WINTERACTIVE online, the exhibition proved to be the ideal winter outing for anyone looking to explore our beautiful city. We’re thrilled to bring back an expanded version in year two with new partners and locations.
One of the most noticeable installments from this year’s Winteractive is a giant inflatable “Monsieur Rose” (Mr. Pink) by Philippe Katerine. Find more info on Winteractive Boston online!
Another hit (literally) is Alouette by artist Brandon Vickerd with Québec City-based curatorial partner EXMURO. Alouette which translastes to “lark” displays a vehicle seemingly hit and destroyed by a fallen satellite, which offers a striking commentary on space waste while turning heads on Washington Street.
