On Monday, November 21, Mayor Michelle Wu and the friends of Christopher Columbus Park rang in the holiday season with an official lighting of the iconic Boston trellis. 50,000 blue fairy lights illuminate the trellis adjacent to Boston’s historic waterfront.
Located at 110 Atlantic Avenue, the 260-foot-long trellis is a notorious spot, celebrated all season long with romantic walks and very Insta-worthy selfies. You can capture the illuminated joy all season long.

There were plenty of local entertainers caroling and covering classic holiday tunes. Entertainment from the nearby North End Music and Performing Arts Center, Northeastern a cappella group Pitch, Please!, Ackeem Hill, and special guests Santa Claus and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer entertained giddy and gleeful spectators!
To stay warm, and because Santa said it’s ok, guests enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate milk from various sponsors. H.P. Hood will also have the quintessential holiday drink, eggnog. For those craving something savory to balance the sweetness, New England clam chowder was served courtesy of Joe’s Waterfront.
