Maxxinistas are flocking to the T.J. Maxx on Newbury Street as the popular Back Bay store launches a major liquidation sale ahead of its closure in early 2026. Shoppers can find steep discounts across three floors of designer clothing, shoes, beauty, and home décor, as the 45,000-square-foot flagship clears out inventory before its final day, expected by January 3.
The store, which opened in 2016 at the corner of Newbury Street and Mass. Ave, has long been a rare combo of off-price deals and prime Newbury people-watching. Nearby T.J. Maxx locations in Downtown Crossing, South Bay, and Brookline are expected to absorb loyal customers once the Newbury doors close for good. The sale is expected to run all of December as the store aims to sell as much merchandise as possible.
