There’s a new secret hiding in plain sight on Boylston Street—one that starts with a staircase and ends somewhere between the past and the present. Down below, the hum of the city fades, replaced by soft lighting, vintage textures, and the sense that you’ve stepped into another time entirely.
It’s an experience built for curious Bostonians who chase the thrill of discovery: the kind of place where every corner feels like a hidden clue, and every detail hums with nostalgia.
That mystery is Retro Room, a new underground throwback listening lounge beneath Back Bay Social, the old-school American bistro at 867 Boylston Street. Retro Room is equally a space to unwind and a nostalgic blast from the past, with throwback bites, nostalgic vinyls, and an overall groovy vibe!
“There’s truly nothing like this in Boston,” says Tyler Hall, Marketing Director for Back Bay Social. The concept comes from the same team behind Back Bay Social.
Retro Room is now open in Back Bay at 867 Boylston Street.
