The limited-time Polar Express Train Ride of Massachusetts returns this November! Travel from Buzzard’s Bay to the North Pole on a magical ride inspired by the books of Chris Van Allsburg and its film adaptations.
The 1.5-hour train ride is a trip through a classic holiday tale. The “merry-making” cast brings the timeless story to life on a journey to greet Santa at the North Pole.
The conductor punches golden tickets for each child while The Polar Express soundtrack melodies in the background. Dancing waiters and chefs perform to the classic carols, followed by a group reading of Chris Van Allsburg’s 1985 children’s book.
Journey to the North Pole
Once you reach the North Pole, Santa personally delivers each guest a holiday gift-with the help of his elves dressed in green, white, and red costume! Make sure to prepare your camera to capture the moment! And each child will get a bonus gift-a keepsake sleigh bell from Santa and a souvenir golden ticket to remember their voyage to the North Pole!
As guests enjoy the live entertainment delivered by different characters of The Polar Express train ride, hot chocolate and Walker’s famous shortbread cookies will be served. It’s the “official onboard treat” of The Polar Express!
Riding The Polar Express
The train offers three seatings, standard, first class, and premium. Those in first class receive a limited-edition tumbler, and premium class passengers receive a special ceramic mug.
It travels a scenic and round-trip 1.5-hour route, to the “North Pole.” You’ll encounter Santa, his elves, plus a herd of dazzling reindeer! Cape Train, conductors of The Polar Express, note “to maintain the holiday magic, the location of “The North Pole” is not disclosed.”
The Polar Express offers a daytime “matinee” trip, or the classic evening trip which enables you to see all the dazzling holiday lights on your voyage.

The train begins service on Friday, November 24 and runs on select dates through Saturday, December 23. It will run every Thursday through Sunday during that time frame and include additional trips on Tuesday, December 19 and Wednesday, December 20.
