Thousands of blooming orchids transform the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill into an orchid extravaganza! The beloved orchid show returns, as Pixels + Petals, An Orchid Exhibition showcases more than 2,000 living orchids in some of the Garden’s most creative and visually striking displays ever!
The “petals” are for the orchids, but the “pixels” are for…video games!
The Garden showcases a first-of-its-kind exhibition of retro gaming juxtaposed with the delicate intricacies of thousands of unique orchids.
“The larger-than-life structural elements of Pixels + Petals are designed to evoke imagery from the iconic video games of the 80s and 90s that captivated many of us. Imagine pixels falling into place on a screen and the glow of an arcade. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever done before and we’re excited for people of all ages to experience it,” says Lea Morgan, exhibitions manager for New England Botanic Garden.
The annual orchid exhibition introduces many to rare and beautiful species, hard to witness in real life! The exhibit features both artistic and educational opportunities with gobsmaking beauty.
“Pixels + Petals is a fun and creative tribute to one of the planet’s most fascinating plant families. The exhibition draws inspiration from the fact that orchids are natural problem solvers who have puzzled out ways to live on almost every continent on the planet thanks to highly specialized adaptations,” says Morgan.
