For Phyllis Thibodeaux Beach, welcoming travelers to Boston would mean introducing them to the city she has called home her entire life.
The 76-year-old Mattapan resident is one of eight finalists in the Voice of Logan contest. Public voting ends October 28, and the winner is expected to be announced in November.
A lifelong local with plenty of stories
“I was born and raised in Boston,” Beach writes in her contestant statement.
Her pitch draws on decades of personal memories, from watching the skyline evolve to remembering ice deliveries and Table Talk pies packaged in metal tins.
Beach sees that lifelong connection as a reason to put her voice behind the airport’s welcome, greeting both first-time visitors and Bostonians returning home.
Rather than focusing only on how Boston sounds, she highlights what it means to know a place across generations.
As she puts it: “Oh, the stories I can tell.”
