America turns 250 years old this year!
Last year, Boston celebrated the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution.
This year, the city, and the entire nation, will celebrate the independence established in 1776, marked by a nationwide anniversary celebration known as America 250. Boston will host a plethora of events leading up to the big anniversary on July 4, 2026.
With much of the early American history occurring in Massachusetts, the state plans to reenact plenty of milestone events, such as Paul Revere’s historic midnight ride. If you enjoyed the rush and thrill of watching Paul race his way down Charlestown on horseback last year, then gear up for a return of Paul alongside, William Dawes!
Arrival of Paul Revere and William Dawes in Arlington
A Massachusetts 250 original, the duo will arrive separately from the City of Boston on horseback to warn Arlington (Menotomy) residents of the British! The event includes a small ceremony plus crafts and lawn games.
