Somerville’s creative community will take center stage this summer as One Night Art School transforms Union Square into an immersive, hands-on arts experience. Hosted by Somerville Arts Engine in partnership with USQ, the free event invites the public to explore a wide range of creative disciplines—from painting and printmaking to dance and comedy—all in one evening. Designed to showcase the city’s vibrant arts scene, the event brings together local organizations, artists, and performers under one roof.
Hands-on art classes and live performances in Union Square

Set inside 10 Prospect Street in Somerville’s Union Square, the event reimagines a traditional campus as a one-night creative hub. Guests can participate in interactive workshops, watch live demonstrations, and engage with artists across multiple disciplines. Activities include figure drawing with Boston Figure Art Center, printmaking with New Impressions Print Studio, and clay sculpting with Mudflat Studio.
Live entertainment and performances will run throughout the evening, including music, dance, comedy, and even a live podcast experience. Visitors can also explore offerings from groups like The Center for Arts at the Armory, Somerville Museum, and Theatre@First, making it easy to sample a wide range of artistic experiences in one place.
