The Northeast Animal Shelter, now part of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals – Angell Animal Medical Center (MSPCA–Angell), was founded in 1976. The MSPCA–Angell began in 1868 and is one of the nation’s oldest humane societies, caring for over 50,000 animals annually.
Both organizations work to provide comfort and shelter to animals of all kinds until they find their forever homes. This nonprofit aims to prevent animal cruelty and suffering by giving care while promoting animal advocacy. Currently, the MSPCA–Angell has numerous animals available for adoption across its locations, including Cape Cod, Methuen, and Boston. These adoptable pets include a mix of cats, dogs, and other animals such as goats and rabbits.
The Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem houses many cats looking for permanent homes and families. Located in the heart of Salem, the shelter is conveniently situated for those enjoying the city’s famous Halloween festivities. It might be the perfect time to consider adopting a feline friend while you’re in the area!
