Just four quarters and a punch separate art enthusiasts from a dopamine rush. The world’s first Mini Print Vending Machine, now in Boston, became an internet sensation with locals and tourists hunting for its next pop-up.
It’s a full-circle moment for the Mini Print Vending Machine creator, Anastasia Inciardi, who launched the first machine in 2023 as an interactive art pop-up. Inciardi’s Machines drew attention quickly on social media, leading to collaborations with brands like uncommon goods and Warby Parker.
The immersive art experience proved such a success that Inciardi launched her first permanent Mini Print Vending Machine in Portland, Maine last summer. As a Brooklyn native turned Maine resident, it’s no surprise that Inciardi’s vending machines are quickly growing across the East Coast, with the first Massachusetts location landing in July 2024 at Rubiner’s Cheesemongers in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Shortly after, the ICA became the first Inciardi Machines location in Boston. A new machine joined the Boston fleet at Beacon Hill Books & Cafe.
Inciardi specializes in relief printmaking—an artform that consists of carving a wood or linoleum “stamp,” strategically applying ink to the carved piece, and pressing the piece down on paper with a spoon to transfer the image. Inciardi’s signature miniature prints reflect their habitat. Machines average eight different printed hand drawn artworks that dispense randomly—meaning you never know what you’re going to get! In Boston, sample drawings include a snapshot of The Charles, the Beacon Hill Books & Cafe mascot, and oysters—among others.
