Mendes worked at the Michelin-starred Manhattan restaurant, Aldea in New York City. Mendes then served as the opening chef at the award-winning Amar inside Raffles Back Bay.
Mendes plans to venture into the hospitality entrepreneurship realm to launch two unique concepts in South End. Agosto is Mendes’ 45-seat restaurant on Washington Street, which could open as early as summer 2026. Agosto will feature a chef’s counter and tasting menu.
Next door, Mendes plans to open Baby Sister, a casual bakery-café. Both Agosto and Baby Sister will have Portuguese influences.
The exact opening dates are yet to be announced, but Agosto and Baby Sister will debut at 1673 and 1679 Washington Street in South End.
