Whether you’re headed westbound on the MBTA Commuter Rail or simply snagging a Red Line train to Alewife, the MBTA holiday schedule is an important factor in ensuring you arrive at your holiday destinations on time (or at least as close as possible).
Commuter Rail
- Christmas Eve: The Commuter Rail will operate on a regular schedule.
- Christmas Day: The Commuter Rail will operate on a weekend schedule.
Inbound and outbound service will continue on all Commuter Rail lines on December 24 and 25 using the schedules noted above.
The T
- Christmas Eve: The T will operate on a regular schedule with increased Silver Line service to/from Logan.
- Christmas Day: The T will operate on a Sunday schedule.
The T will run a regular schedule on Christmas Eve but a reduced schedule on Christmas Day, and it will not close during the holiday period.
MBTA Ferry
There will be no ferry service on Christmas Day and reduced ferry service for certain destination on Christmas Eve.
MBTA fares
Fares for inner-city buses and trains remain the same on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
On Christmas Eve, December 24, Commuter Rail trains will collect regular fares, but on Christmas Day the Commuter Rail offers its $10 holiday pass, which means unlimited rides on all Commuter Rail trains that day.
