All four active branches of the MBTA Green Line will be closed for repairs from Saturday, August 8 through Sunday, August 16.
Free shuttle buses will replaces normal train service along the following routes.
Green Line closures
The MBTA closed the Green Line for service repairs now through Sunday, August 16. The closures apply to the stops between the following routes:
- B branch: Goverment Center to Babcock Street
- C branch: Goverment Center to Cleveland Circle
- D branch: North Station to Kenmore
- E branch: North Station to Heath Street
Alternate routes
The closure comes in the middle of a record heat wave for Boston. Riders can take the fare-free shuttle buses made available during the closure. With shuttles and traffic, riders are advised by the MBTA to allot “at least 25 minutes,” of extra commute time according to the MBTA.
The MBTA Orange Line will run during the Green Line closure and shares service with several of the routes impacted by closures. Use the MBTA Green Line alerts page to plan your route.
