Flour Bakery + Cafe opens its tenth location on the Boston Common this month. Other than marking 25 years of Flour, and entering the double digits in terms of physical storefronts, this new location is extra special for Flour.
Flour founder and owner and award-winning chef, Joanne Chang, and her team have worked tirelessly and creatively to bring soft serve to the menu at Flour Boston Common. This marks the first Flour location to offer any kind of ice cream. The location intends to kick off spring with a Vanilla, Strawberry, and twist house-made soft serve menu. A mouthwatering assortment of house-made toppings and dips, like a strawberry dip, mochi, sprinkles, and Flour sticky bun crumbs are among some of the ways to dress your sweet treat!
Taking the space of the Boston Common concessions stand, formerly Earl of Sandwich, the new 600-square-foot location takes advantage of its real estate at the heart of Boston Common. The picnic-friendly menu makes it easy to enjoy your meal while soaking up the sun on the Common or on a bench at the adjacent Boston Public Garden.
Flour Boston Common boasts over 40 outdoor patio seats but no indoor access for customers. Thus, they’re serving up a streamlined menu of Flour favorites, plus exclusive additions like a loaded hotdog and an Embrace Morning bun.
The Embrace Morning Bun which is a figurative depiction of the neighboring monument dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King. The bun features a brown butter dough with freshly ground cardamom, cinnamon, clove, ginger, black pepper, and crushed cacao.
The Flour Dog, inspired by American street food culture (and its prime location in America’s oldest park), introduces Flour’s twist on a classic American chili dog. The dog comes served on a house-made milk bun, with a hot dog dressed in a Boston baked bean and ground beef chili, sweet and sour relish, chopped onion, and celery salt.
Due to its location at the heart of the Boston Common, Flour expects to change its hours seasonally based on daylight but also adapt its menu to each season, with refreshing coolers for summer and warming hot chocolates to comfort Frog Pond ice skaters in winter!
