The Cape is heralded for its stunning shorelines and prolific hydrangea blooms. Not far from the hydrangea havens is a gorgeous lavender labyrinth, home to the largest lavender farm in the state!
Cape Cod Lavender Farm is Massachusetts’ largest lavender farm, with thousands of blooms across a massive lot of land. The farm opened in 1995, and today, three generations of farmers have kept the farm and business blooming.
Cynthia Sutphin initiated the farm’s inaugural public harvest, inviting local Cape Codders and tourists to check out the lavender fields. Since then, it’s been lavender fields forever, with both the farm and related products growing exponentially.
The largest lavender labyrinth in Massachusetts
Located in Harwich, Cape Cod Lavender Farm is the largest lavender farm in the state, and just under a 90-minute drive from Boston. The farm boasts over 7,000 lavender plants across 11 secluded acres of land. There are over 16 varieties of lavender (or more) at the farm each season. Some of the most common include Provence, Jean Davis, Phenomenal, Munstead, Vera, Grosso, and Twickle Purple lavender! Color, fragrance, and size of the lavender buds vary for each variety, meaning you can discover new flowers across the labyrinth.
Surrounded by over 75 acres of conservation land and woodland trails, the farm offers a peaceful escape from the city.
Lavender harvest
Lavender season in Massachusetts generally runs from late June through mid-July, with peak sometime in early to mid July.
Farm season
The farm is open seasonally from March through December every year. Access to the farm is complimentary, with the ability to purchase homemade provisions, fragrance, dried flowers, and more on-site.
