Methodology
ProCare Therapy used a scale of 100 to rank the most playable cities in America. Boston earned the highest score with an overall ranking of 69.1.
Despite having four seasons, Boston also ranked #1 for the American city with the most splashpads per 100,000 children, one of the several factors in determining the most play-friendly cities.
In total, ProCare Therapy graded five key indicators of playability on a weighted scale of 20% each. The weighted factors included:
- Percent of residents living within 1 mile of a park
- Walkability score
- Playgrounds per 100,000 children
- Skate parks per 100,000 children
- Splashpads per 100,000 children
Boston took home the top spot and is the only New England location to make the list of the top 99 cities on the U.S. Playability Index. This is your sign to get outside and enjoy all this city has to offer!
