The City of Boston’s Office of Food Justice is partnering with Project Bread, the YMCA, and Boston Public Schools to make sure no youth is hungry this summer. The free program, Summer Eats, offers breakfast and lunch for all Boston youth 18 and under through August.
Although no ID or paperwork is required to enjoy a wholesome meal, the honor system is in place, as it is designed for youth. The program also welcomes the opportunity to connect while ensuring teens and kids are properly fueled on hot summer days.
There are 33 meal sites in total across the city in Allston, Back Bay, Brighton, Chinatown, Dorchester, Downtown, East Boston, Fenway, Hyde Park, JP, Mattapan, Mission Hill, Southie, South End, and West Roxbury. Meals must be redeemed and enjoyed on-site; there are no to-go dining options.
Each Summer Eats location operates on an individual schedule, and all meals are served on a first-come, first-served basis. Youth can find FAQ and the list of Summer Eats locations as well as hours on Boston.gov.
