With approximately one dog for every 10 people in Boston Seaport, you’d think we’d have a dog mayor by now!? There’s no hiding this neighborhood’s strong affinity for canines but it’s about time somebody speaks their language. We’re now in round two of the lection phase for Seaport’s first dog mayor, the Pooch Primaries! The voting period runs from October 15 and closes October 30, with the winner announced on Friday, November 1, ahead of the Federal Elections.
The first voting period for electing Boston’s first dog mayor closed on August 30.
The people—or the pups, we’re not sure—have spoken and the city is seriously about to get its first dog mayor this November! The race, dubbed “Bark the Vote,” by Boston Seaport wants to celebrate the vibrant members of its community.
To celebrate our favorite four-legged friends, Seaport will appoint an official neighborhood dog mayor in 2024, notes Boston Seaport.
This election is taken very seriously. 15,000 votes have been cast among the 175 dogs in the electoral race.
