The Blue Hills just got even easier to travel to!
If you’re without a car, the MBTA’s got your covered! Back for the season, the MBTA announced the return of service on the 716 bus to the Blue Hills. The bus route returned with expanded service, providing weekend and holiday service during the summer, making nature even more accessible with city living.
The Blue Hills Reservation is home to over 7,000 acres of natural wonder. At the peak, you can view the Boston skyline!
The bus deliver’s riders from Boston approximately every 45 minutes to Houghton’s Pond. During summer, you can swim and relax by the 24-acre pond and enjoy its sandy beach. There’s also fishing at the pond and nearby trails for horseback riding, biking, or just hiking.
On August 13, 20, and 27, DCR hosts free movie nights in the park.
The seasonal route runs every 45 minutes from 8 AM until 8 PM from Mattapan Station beginning May 23 through October 12. The bus route goes to Houghton’s Pond at Blue Hills Reservation only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
