The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) is bringing the spirit of Barbados’ iconic Oistins Fish Fry to Boston for one night only, from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, September 4, at City Hall Plaza.
A Caribbean cultural fest in Boston
The Barbados and Boston event spotlights the local Caribbean community, with more than 25 vendors offering a taste of island life. The activation will take place in three cities: Boston, Brooklyn, and Toronto. The one-day festival gives Bostonians a unique opportunity to experience Barbadian culture without leaving the city.
Expect festive eats, live beats, craft vendors, and more, bringing vibrant energy to City Hall Plaza as day turns to night on the first Friday of September.
What is an Oistins Fish Fry?
Central to the event is the spirit of Barbados’ iconic Oistins Fish Fry. Oistins is a historic fishing village on Barbados’ southern coast, known for its lively weekly Friday-night fish fry celebrations, which center on fresh seafood, music, and community.
The Oistins Fish Fry is the island’s second-most popular attraction, according to the Barbados Department of Tourism. Now, Bostonians have a unique opportunity to experience the spirit of a Friday-night fish fry right in the city—perhaps sparking curiosity to visit Barbados itself.
