Ashley Cook wants an airport announcement to do something beyond directing travelers: make them feel Boston.
The Lynn resident, who grew up in Jamaica Plain and now teaches in Boston Public Schools, is one of eight Voice of Logan finalists. Public voting ends October 28, with the winner expected to be announced in November.
A Boston upbringing that comes full circle
Cook’s contestant statement traces a connection to the city through classrooms, sports teams, music, and family.
She attended Boston Public Schools from elementary school through high school. Her mother worked as a BPS teacher’s aide, while her father drove a Boston taxi.
Cook also recalls growing up with New Kids on the Block, celebrating the Red Sox’s 2004 championship, and following the Brady–Belichick Patriots.
“Boston isn’t just a place… it’s a feeling,” she writes.
That feeling anchors her pitch: give newcomers a sense of the city and returning residents a familiar welcome.
