If you’ve ever wanted a sweatshirt that says something about you, Seaport has a new place to make it. Brodenim opens at The Superette (70 Pier 4 Boulevard) on October 3, after four seasons at The Current. The shop sells apparel and lets you add your own patches in store.
Founder Laura Brodigan started the brand nine years ago around one idea: clothes become more personal when you design them yourself. Its patch library draws on sports, places, culture and personal identity.
How the Patch Bar works
You start with a base piece: a sweatshirt, tee, sweatpants, jacket or hat. Then you browse more than 300 patches, lay out your design with help from a Patch Specialist, and the team applies the finished piece on site. Brodenim has also added a new Patch Bar to this location. The same concept ran this summer in Sag Harbor and Martha’s Vineyard.
Boston and sports designs
The Seaport shop will carry Boston-, Seaport- and team-inspired designs, along with location-specific patches. Officially licensed NBA patches will cover the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers. New apparel styles and silhouettes will debut at the store too.
New drops every month. Brodenim will introduce new designs monthly throughout the fall, so the selection will change from one visit to the next.
Opening-day offer. Anyone who buys a sweatshirt on October 3 gets one patch of their choice to apply at the Patch Bar.
Parties and group events at Brodenim
The space will also host birthday parties, holiday celebrations and private events, where groups make customized pieces together. Groups can order custom patches ahead of time, such as company logos or event themes. Inquiries go through the Patch Bar booking page on the official website.
“Returning to Seaport with a larger, more immersive space feels especially meaningful,” said Brodigan. Ariel Foxman, Area VP, Brand & Experience for Boston Seaport by WS Development, said the brand “has built a strong connection within the Seaport community.”
Hours: Monday to Saturday, 11am to 7pm; Sunday, 12pm to 6pm. Find more details on the Brodenim website.
